HWDSB Helps is a free and anonymous reporting and help‑seeking service provided by the Hamilton‑Wentworth District School Board. It allows students to get help for themselves or to share concerns about the well‑being or safety of others in a confidential way.

HWDSB Helps is designed to:

  • Support student well‑being and safety
  • Promote positive, inclusive school environments
  • Provide a way to report concerns early, before issues escalate

Kids Help Phone

Kids Help Phone is a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week counselling and information service for children and youth in Canada. Support is free, confidential, and available in English and French. Young people can reach out anytime for support with mental health, relationships, family concerns, or if they are feeling unsafe or overwhelmed.

COAST Hamilton (Crisis Outreach and Support Team)

COAST Hamilton provides mental health crisis outreach and support for individuals of all ages. Services are available to support people experiencing a mental health crisis and to help connect them with appropriate community resources. Support is available by phone for immediate mental health concerns.

McMaster Children's Hospital

Child and Youth Mental Health Emergency Services

This service is located within the Emergency Department at McMaster Children’s Hospital and provides mental health emergency assessment and support for children and youth aged 17 years and younger. Families may access this service by presenting directly to the Emergency Department when there are urgent mental health or safety concerns.

The Indigenous Hope for Wellness Help Line

The Indigenous Hope for Wellness Help Line offers immediate, culturally appropriate mental health counselling and crisis intervention to all Indigenous peoples across Canada. Services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and support is offered in English, French, Cree, Ojibway, and Inuktitut upon request.

The Black Youth Helpline

Support for Black youth, families, and communities across Canada. The Black Youth Helpline provides culturally responsive support, advocacy, and referrals for Black youth and families, including assistance with education, mental health, child welfare, and community-based services.

Sexual Assault Centre of Hamilton (SACHA)

The Sexual Assault Centre of Hamilton (SACHA) provides crisis support, counselling, and advocacy for individuals impacted by sexual violence. SACHA offers confidential support for survivors and those seeking information or assistance.
